About Playlist
Derived from Reggae, Dub is finally as old as the creation of Jamaican roots. Characterized by the increase of the rhythmic bass-drums (and especially bass!), it forged a true sound-system culture that developed in Jamaica but received a very important echo in Europe. In the 1990s, a renaissance Dub was born in England with the arrival of Mad Professor productions among others, and the creation of the genre Dub Steppa (or stepper). Since the late 90's, the French dub scene has exploded and is now recognized worldwide. With more electronic experiments, which move away from the usual "skank" of Jamaican Dub-Roots, this Electro-Dub sometimes called Novo Dub continues to develop since the early 2000s, thanks to labels such as Jarring Effects or ODGprod.
