Cecilia Bernardini

Versatile on both modern and Baroque violins, Cecilia Bernardini has developed a large repertoire of early music and standard classical works, and performs as soloist and conductor. She has played concertos by Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, Bruch, and Szymanowski, and participated in the premiere of Philip Glass' Double Concerto with the Residentie Orkest den Haag. However, her interest in Baroque music has led her to work with many leading period ensembles, such as Zefiro, Arcangelo, Pygmalion, Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra, the Holland Baroque Society, the King's Consort, Camerata Salzburg, Bach Collegium Japan, and the Netherlands Bach Society, as well as modern ensembles, including the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra. Bernardini has also led the Dunedin Consort since 2012, and recorded works by Bach and Mozart with them. As a chamber musician, Bernardini performs as a member of the Serafino String Trio, and also gives recitals in a duo with fortepianist Keiko Shichijo. In 2016, Bernardini released Bach: Violin Concertos with John Butt leading the Dunedin Consort on Linn Records, and in 2018, Louis Spohr: 3 Sonatas for Harp & Violin with harpist Masumi Nagasawa appeared on BIS.
