5 After Midnight

X Factor trio 5 After Midnight formed just a few short weeks before they faced the show's judges. The three-piece boy band consisting of Nathan Lewis, Jordan Lee, and Kieran Alleyne, were originally called 5AM, but were re-named by X Factor mentor Louis Walsh ahead of the program's Live Shows. While appearing on the talent show, Alleyne came under fire for being a professional singer -- he had already released a single prior to the show, was signed to Artistry Entertainment, and appeared in CBBC's Dani's Castle. Before they appeared on the program, Lewis was a street dancer and Lee worked at a casino. The group lasted until week ten of the 2016 edition of X Factor when they were voted off. Despite losing the competition, Simon Cowell went on to sign 5 After Midnight to his Syco label. In 2017, the band announced they would be releasing their debut record later that same year. That summer they put out their first single. "Up in Here" was written by MNEK (Beyoncé, Madonna, Lianne La Havas) and singer/songwriter Raye.
