A collection that is neither fish (nothing but hits) nor fowl (seldom reissued rarities), but nonetheless provides a decent sampling of what the Glenn Miller sound was all about. Kicking off with "A String of Pearls," the set moves effortlessly between smoothies like Jerry Gray's "The Spirit Is Willing," "Fools Rush In," and "My Blue Heaven" and uptempo flag wavers like "In the Mood," "Jukebox Saturday Night," "Glen Island Special" (so named after the ballroom where the band made its rise to fame), and "Johnson Rag." Not the definitive Glenn Miller collection, but if you've got all the hits, this is a nice companion piece.
