Vilain Pingouin
Quebec rock band founded in Montreal (Canada) in 1986, originally comprising Claude Samson, Frédérik Bonicard, Michel Vaillancourt, Rodolphe Fortier and Rudy Caya. Vilain Pingouin entered the Rock-Envol competition in the spring of 1987, then the first Festival International de Rock de Montréal, and the Empire des Futures Stars in 1988. The band released their first single in 1989, " François ". A self-titled debut album was released in 1990, featuring the songs " Ainsi soit-il ", " Les Belles années ", " Le Train ", " Marche seul " and " Sous la pluie ", all of which reached the top of the Quebec radio charts. The following year, the group won the Félix for Group of the Year at the ADISQ gala. In 1992, they released their second opus, Roche Et Roule, with the hit songs " Délinquance " and " P'tite vie, p'tite misère ". The latter won the Félix for Rock Album of the Year at the ADISQ gala. In September and October 1993, Vilain Pingouin took part in the Rock le Lait tour, with France D'Amour and Jean Leloup, performing across the province of Quebec. The band took a two-year hiatus in 1995, to work on their personal project. Spring 1998 marked Vilain Pingouin's return to the recording studio with the album Y'É Quelle Heure? In 2003, they recorded their first live opus, Jeux de Mains, on September 12 and 13 in front of a live audience at the Just for Laughs studio. The band releases a greatest hits compilation in 2014. The group releases an EP entitled Coup d'Coeur in 2018 and another in 2022, Coup d'Main.
