Dr Zeus

British Indian composer, singer and producer Dr Zeus scored an enduring hit with 2003 Punjabi firecracker "Kangna," which was named BBC Asian Network's best song of the year and helped pave the way for his future career. Born Baljit Singh Padam on March 20, 1976 in Birmingham, UK, Dr Zeus made his first moves in 1999 after signing to Birmingham's Envy label and producing two songs for the album Pure Garage – Sue My Ass by Punjabi singer Balwinder Singh Safri, from the band Safri Boyz. The following year, he produced another record, Death Jamm 4.5, before branching out with his debut solo album, The High Life, in 2001. He continued to produce and create an array of records over the next few decades, including 2003's Unda Da Influence, on which "Kangna" is featured, and third album The Original Edit (2005) with Lehmber Hussainpuri providing vocals. He dropped Back Unda Da Influence in 2008 which spawned a Number 1 BBC Asian Network Chart hit in "Sat Sri Akaal." In 2021, he was named Best Asian Music Producer and won Best Single for "Jugni Ji," with Kanika Kapoor at the 2012 Brit Asia TV Music Awards (BAMA). At the 2015 BAMAs, he was named Best Producer and won Bollywood Record of the Year for "Lovely," also with Kanika Kapoor. In 2021, Dr Zeus joined forces with Deep Jandu and Shortie for the single "Fashion Di Definition," and he also worked as a producer on the album Judaa 3 Chapter 1 by Amrinder Gill.
