Catupecu Machu
Latin alternative metal trio Catupecu Machu started playing live in the mid-'90s, promoting themselves with the release of a demo called Lavatuto. In 1997, singer/guitarist Fernando Ruiz Díaz, bassist Gabriel Ruiz Díaz, and drummer Miguel Sosa (aka "Abril") founded their own label to make their debut album, Dale! On October 10, 1998, this newcomer in the Argentinian rock scene recorded the live A Morir! A year later, Catupecu Machu had the opportunity to join Monsters of Rock, opening for Almafuerte, Sepultura, and Metallica at Buenos Aires' River Plate stadium. Cuentos Decapitados became their first international release. Bassist Gabriel Ruiz Diaz died on January 23, 2021 in Santa Fe, Argentina at the age of 45.
