London Grammar a pris son temps. Propulsés au sommet des charts dès If You Wait, leur premier album paru en 2013 (un disque Qobuzissime !), Hannah Reid, Dot Major et Dan Rothman ont méticuleusement pensé et conçu Truth Is A Beautiful Thing. Le jeune trio londonien qui construisait ses compositions autour de la voix envoûtante de sa chanteuse (qui n'est pas sans rappeler celle de Romy Madley Croft de The XX mais aussi de Florence & The Machine voire, chez les plus anciens, de Tracey Thorn d'Everything But The Girl) conserve ici une stratégie similaire. Et peut-être même amplifiée tant Rooting For You, la chanson qui ouvre ce disque, fait figure d’entrée de jeu d’écrin idéal à cet organe onirique et divin. Ce chant en apesanteur se retrouve à nouveau au service d’une pop atmosphérique, quasi-religieuse et aux portes d’une électro new age sur certains titres. En quatre ans, Hannah Reid a même musclé cet organe hors du commun. Surtout, elle n’abuse jamais de sa virtuosité qu’elle met toujours au service des chansons. Impressionnant. © CM/Qobuz
