In an attempt to cash in on the success of such other bubblegum luminaries as New Edition and New Kids on the Block, Motown quickly put their brain trust to work, and developed their own answer to all of this madness. The Boys' debut album is made up of, essentially, pop/R&B/new jack swing songs sugar-coated for the preteen set of the late '80s. Having the award-winning team of Babyface and L.A. Reid behind the production console certainly helps things as well, and the group went on to have two minor R&B hits off the album: "Dial My Heart" and "Lucky Charm." All of the elements in place, Motown had an award-winning formula on their hands; a formula so successful that Motown would see fit to repeat it three years later with the emergence of Another Bad Creation.
