Rondeau commémore le 70è anniversaire de la mort de Hugo Distler, en réunissant deux ensembles vocaux de Leipzig sur le même album. Les motets pour trois et quatre voix ont été enregistrés par les jeunes femmes du sextuor Sjaella et les gentlement de l'Ensemble Nobiles. Au centre de cet album on trouve Totentanz opus 12 n°2, son oeuvre la plus connue, qui consiste en 14 motets et des passages narratifs, dits ici par le charismatique Heinz-Martin Benecke.
