Le rappeur anglais Tinie Tempah a fait une entrée remarquée dans le milieu muiscal d'outre-Manche en plaçant son premier single « Pass Out » directement au sommet. Entouré d'un escadron de producteur (son acolyte Labrinth, la Swedish House Mafia, Al Shux, Ishi et Naughty Boy), voici que le dénommé Patrick Okogwu présente son premier album Disc-Overy.
Arrivé en tête des ventes la semaine de sa sortie, Disc-Overy est ce que l'on appelle un album calibré. Le contenu n'a rien d'original dans le registre rap/R&B : la façon de rapper de Tinie Tempah est très mécanique, les beats ont déjà été entendu mille fois, les choeurs apportent une touche féminine supplémentaire, la production gonflée aux hormones est nickel.
L'efficacité de l'album repose donc sur quelques titres forts qui ont cartonné grâce à quelques gimmicks efficaces, notamment sur les des duos avec Eric Turner (« Written In The Stars ») et Labrinth (« Frisky ») ou le remix de Swedish House Mafia (« Miami 2 Ibiza »). La liste peut s'allonger avec ceux de Kelly Rowland (« Invincible »), Ellie Goulding (« Wonderman ») ou Emeli Sandé (« Let Go »). Tinie Tempah n'a pas fini de faire parler de lui.
