Enregistré les 30 avril et 2 mai 1991 au fameux auditorium Ryman à Nashville dont la restauration devenait urgente (la recette y a aidé) cet album « live » est en fait l’un des meilleurs d’Emmylou Harris.
Accompagnée des Nash Ramblers son nouveau groupe qui compte les vétérans Sam Bush (mandoline et violon), le guitariste Al Perkins (Manassas) et le batteur Larry Atamanuik (Seatrain) la chanteuse est en pleine forme vocale et varie ses chansons avec discernement, de la country traditionnelle avec yodeling (« Cattle Call »), du gospel (« Hard Times »), le bluegrass du maître Bill Monroe, et explore un répertoire plus moderne en reprenant l’un des joyaux du Nebraska de Bruce Springsteen, « Mansion On The Hill », « Guitar Town » de Steve Earle, « Lodi » de John Fogerty, rock de Creedence Clearwater Revival qui se prête à ce traitement bluegrass, et le « It’s A Had Life Wherever You Go » de sa disciple Nanci Griffith qu’elle admire et dont elle venait de reprendre, en duo avec Willie Nelson, le « Gulf Coast Highway » qui l’avait fait pleurer lors de sa création en 1998 par Griffith (Little Love Affairs) alors qu’elle était au volant d’une voiture, l’obligeant à s’arrêter.
