Hear My Song, Violetta collects Josef Locke's EMI recordings from 1947 to 1955. Taking its title from his best-known performance, the set also features Locke's operatic work ("While the Angelus Was Ringing"), Irish ballads ("Galway Bay"), and Italian pop vocal favorites ("Come Back to Sorrento"). While fidelity issues plague some of the recordings, Locke's rich tenor shines through on most tracks, and considering the volume of the work here (there over 100 tracks), Hear My Song, Violetta is sure to contain something positive for any listener. As the handful of Locke retrospectives on the market essentially feature the same recordings, this Naxos edition is a fine place to start.
