Pierre Aderne
Brazilian singer/songwriter Pierre Aderne was born in France but relocated to Brazil, his mother's homeland, while still an infant. Living in the city of Brasilia throughout his adolescence, Aderne took his first artistic steps early, inspired by a creative family filled with actors and musicians, his mother being an art educator and his father a philosopher. At 17, Aderne formed Habeas Corpus alongside friends Mac William, Tom Capone and Dunga. Together the band performed for audiences reaching upwards of 60,000. Their recordings were featured on Brazilian rock collections put out by Warner, bolstering recognition both on their native soil and abroad. After the band split, Aderne struck out on his own, living in Brasilia and opening for acts such as Charlie Garcia and Ivan Lins. In 1990 he moved to Rio de Janeiro to become a part of that city's larger, more vital music scene. Aderne's participation on the disc Hinos Dos Times de Futebol -- Revista Placar [2007], a collection of soccer hymns played by some of Brazil's most popular artists, brought his music to its largest audience to date. The disc stayed at Number One on national charts for several weeks. Aderne's debut disc, Casa de Praia, was released in Brazil in 2005, garnering much critical acclaim and heavy rotation on several Rio de Janeiro radio stations. Its subsequent Japanese release in 2006 made him the nation's top-selling Brazilian artist. Aderne began to grace important stages worldwide, including opening for Ben Harper in Lisbon in September of 2006 and headlining at the famous Houston SXSW Festival in 2007.
