PeeWee Longway

Rapper Peewee Longway packs menace and humor into his highly descriptive wordplay. The MPA BandCamp leader got in under the wire as the last MC signed to Gucci Mane's 1017 label before the label boss served a prison sentence, and he became one of the most prolific MCs of the 2010s. He debuted beside Gucci with the joint mixtape Money, Pounds, Ammunition (2013), and released no fewer than nine additional tapes before delivering his debut album, Mr. Blue Benjamin (2016), his first to enter the Billboard charts. His collaborative album Long Money (2019), recorded with Money Man, put him on the Billboard 200. By the end of the decade, Money, Pounds, Ammunition expanded to a trilogy, and there were four volumes of another mixtape series, Blue M&M. In the 2020s, Peewee has independently issued full-lengths such as Longway Recipe and Live a Lil (both 2022), followed by Who Am I? (2023). The nephew of fellow MC Coldblooded Da Don, Peewee Longway appeared in 2013 with Money, Pounds, Ammunition, a joint release with early supporter Gucci Mane. Gucci released the mixtape on his 1017 label. Peewee's MPA BandCamp collective debuted the same year with its loose membership numbering over a dozen artists. The first volume of Peewee's Blue M&M mixtape series, as well as a couple more joint releases with Gucci -- such as Felix Brothers, also featuring Young Dolph -- were among the rapper's many projects for the rest of 2013 and 2014. Two of his biggest cuts, namely the Dolph collaboration "Preach It," followed by "Quarterback," recorded with Young Thug and Migos, highlighted Peewee's busy 2015. Just as active the next year, Peewee first added to his catalog with his proper debut album, Mr. Blue Benjamin, which entered Billboard's R&B/hip-hop chart at number 39. In addition to Gucci and Dolph, Wiz Khalifa and Juicy J were among those who contributed guest verses. Peewee closed out the year with the release of the Longway Sinatra mixtape, a collaboration with Cassius Jay. Projects such as Blue M&M 3, Spaghetti Factory, and State of the Art appeared in 2017 and 2018. "Rerocc," from the first release in that succession, fast became one of Peewee's biggest tracks. In 2019, he issued the fourth Blue M&M tape and teamed up with Money Man for the collaborative Long Money. Thanks in part to the lean single "Ooowwweee," Long Money reached number 23 on the R&B/hip-hop chart and crossed into the Billboard 200, where it landed at number 45. Over the next few years, Peewee was less prolific (by his standard), teaming again with Cassius Jay for 2021's Longway Sinatra 2, and in 2022 releasing Longway Recipe and Live a Lil. He returned in 2023 with Who Am I?, promoted by the title-track single.
