Mauro Tortorelli

Mauro Tortorelli is an Italian violinist. At the age of 16, he attended the Accademia Musicale Chigiana, studying with Franco Gulli and Boris Belkin, and received his diploma with distinction. After graduating from the conservatory, he participated in master classes at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, and studied with Jean-Jacques Kantorow and Georg Mönch. His debut in 1990 at Teatro Alla Scala in Milan featured a performance of a piece by Luigi Nono for two violins, which he played with Mönch. Tortorelli also took up composition with Edoardo Ogando. The winner of several prestigious competitions, Tortorelli has performed as a soloist with the Slovakian State Philharmonic Orchestra, the New Scarlatti Orchestra, and the Dublin Philharmonic, among many others. He has recorded for Nuova Era, Musikstrasse, Camerata, Aulos, Bongiovanni, Tactus, and Brilliant Classics.
