Martin

The winner of the inaugural season of the Danish version of the internationally popular television show The X Factor, Martin is a pop singer who became a national sensation at the young age of 15. Born Martin Hoberg Hedegaard on October 9, 1992, in Ørum, Denmark, the teenage sensation cites Michael Jackson and Queen as two of his primary influences. During the 2007-2008 season of The X Factor, its first season as a Danish television program, Martin performed songs including "Kiss from a Rose" by Seal, "Rock with You" by Michael Jackson, and "Somebody to Love" by Queen. On the night of March 28, 2008, he defeated runner-up Laura Arensbak Kjaergaard in the season's grand finale and was declared the X Factor winner. A major-label recording contract with Sony BMG followed, along with his full-length solo album debut, Show the World (2008), featuring a half-dozen collaborations with the songwriting and production team of Danish hitmakers Remee and Thomas Troelsen. Released only a few months after the X Factor finale, Show the World topped the Danish albums chart during its first week of sales and spawned a pair of chart-topping singles with "The 1" and "Show the World." In the midst of this sensational success, Martin embarked upon a concert tour of Denmark.
