Lalisa

The K-pop rapper, vocalist, and dancer Lisa rose to fame as a member of the internationally-acclaimed girl group Blackpink, then launched a similarly successful solo career with 2021's hit single "Lalisa." She was born as "Pranpriya Manoba" in Buriram, Thailand, on March 27, 1997, and began her dancing career at four years old. Acting on the advice of a fortune teller, she changed her first name to Lalisa and moved to South Korea in 2011. By 2016, she was performing with the South Korean group Blackpink. Immensely popular at home and abroad, Blackpink climbed to Number 1 on both the South Korean and Billboard World Digital Song Sales charts with singles like 2016's "Whistle," 2018's "Ddu-Du Ddu-Du," and 2020's "How You Like That." Lisa was one of the group's most beloved members, hailed as a fashion icon, dance mentor, and global ambassador for K-pop. Already well-known outside of Blackpink's lineup, she began releasing solo material in 2021. Lalisa, her debut single album, set a new record for the highest first-week sales in South Korea, where the record debuted at Number 1. The song itself charted at Number 2 on Billboard's Global 200 and Number 9 on New Zealand's Hot Singles, with its music video receiving a record-breaking 73.6 million views during its first day of availability.
