Diamond Watch Wrists

Diamond Watch Wrists is an experimental psychedelic collaboration between producer Guillermo Scott Herren (best known for his work as Prefuse 73) and drummer Zach Hill (of the band Hella) that made its album debut in 2009 with Ice Capped at Both Ends on Warp Records. Herren, who rose to underground fame after the critical success of his album debut as Prefuse 73, the glitch classic Vocal Studies + Uprock Narratives (2001), releases music under a variety of monikers, some of them collaborations. In addition to Prefuse 73, he's released music as Savath & Savalas, Piano Overlord, and Delarosa & Asora. Hill, a self-taught drummer with an unconventional style, is likewise known for his collaborative nature. While he's best known for his work as the drummer of Hella, he's also featured on recordings by Marnie Stern, Crime in Choir, Flössin, and Good Moon, among many others. Moreover, Hill made his solo album debut in 2008 with Astrological Straits on Ipecac Records. Among the many projects with which these two collaborators have been involved, the Diamond Watch Wrists project is notable for its psychedelic style, in particular Herren's psych-folk vocals. One of three Herren-helmed albums released within a month's time in 2009 (the others including Prefuse 73's Everything She Touched Turned Ampexian on Warp Records and Savath & Savalas' La Llama on Stones Throw Records), Ice Capped at Both Ends was the least enthusiastically received. Warp labelmate Tyondai Braxton of Battles is featured on duet vocals.
