Tomotaka Okamoto

Sopranist Tomotaka Okamoto was born in Sukumo, Japan on December 3, 1976. He graduated from the Kunitachi College of Music and the Conservatoire Francis Poulenc before releasing his debut album, Sopranista, in 2003. The album was a success and introduced his uniquely flamboyant talents to a wider audience. Promoting his music on television and through live performances, he released the live Sopranist Concert album and video in 2004. At the end of that year, Tomotaka Okamoto released his second studio album, La Voce, to critical acclaim. More hit albums followed including The Departure of the Day (2005), Sopranista: The Best (2007), Zipangu: A Japanese Song That Touches Your Heart (2010), Let’s Sing for You (2011), Even Though It’s Spring: Omohiuta (2016), Bolero IV – New Breath (2019), and Anthem (2021). Some of his most popular recordings include “E-i-E-N (Forever)” (2004), “To the Sky” (2005), “Sign” (2009), “Even Though It’s Spring” (2016), and “Bolero IV – New Breath” (2019), which was the theme song to the Fuji TV figure skating broadcast. In 2020, he performed a solo rendition of “Tokyo 2020” at the closing ceremonies of the 2020 Summer Olympics.
