Tee Set

With lead singer Peter Tetteroo a mainstay, this Dutch quintet’s recording career began in 1966 with proficient covers of British hits. Growing their hair and catching up with the latest mod gear from London, they looked the part, too, and a bona fide English guitarist Ray Fenwick (later of the Spencer Davis Group) even passed through their fluctuating ranks. The rise of the self-produced single "Ma Belle Amie" on the Netherlands charts was a dry run for a climb to number 4 in the U.S. (January 1970) and global sales of over a million. The outfit remained a popular concert draw throughout Europe until a calculated disbandment in the late '70s. They briefly reunited in 1979 and 1983, but further full reunions ended after Tetteroo died in 2002.
