Super Sweet Talks International

Formed in Ghana, West Africa in 1973, highlife band the Sweet Talks were originally known as both Medican Lantcis and El Dorados before settling on their final name. Founded by leaders club owner Jonathan Abraham and musicians Smart Nkansah and A.B. Crentsil, the group was the resident band at the Talk of the Town Hotel in Tema, Ghana. Their popularity grew and they became one of the most popular young bands in the country. The band’s first three albums – Adam & Eve (1975), The Kusum Beat (1975), and Spiritual Ghana (1976) – were enormously successful and the band toured internationally, including a stop in Los Angeles, California in 1978. However, by this time, founders Smart Nkansah and A.B. Crentsil had left the band in 1976 and formed a new band called the Black Hustlers. Renaming themselves the Super Sweet Talks, the band made several more albums and continued playing live, but eventually split up in 1980. The group’s members went on to other musical projects including Super Sweet Talks International.
