Roxanne

A Los Angeles-based hard rock/heavy metal unit with a knack for crafting booming party anthems, Roxanne emerged in the late 1980s at the tail-end of the hair metal scene. Citing influences like Queen, Thin Lizzy, and Bad Company, and led by frontman Jamie Brown, the group had some success with their Scotti Brothers-issued eponymous 1988 debut album, with singles "Cherry Bay," "Sweet Maria," and a souped-up rendering of Wild Cherry's "Play That Funky Music" making a strong showing on rock radio and the Billboard singles charts. Shoddy label support and the looming presence of the incoming grunge wave prompted the group to go their separate ways, but they returned from their 30-year hiatus in 2018 with the release of their long-gestating sophomore effort, the aptly named Radio Silence. Produced by Rich Mouser and Jamie Brown and recorded to 2" tape, the 11-song set, which was released via Rat Pak Records, features guest spots from George Lynch, King’s X frontman dUg Pinnick, and Korn drummer Ray Luzier.
