One Day International
Irish rock outfit One Day International formed in 2007. Instead of going the usual route of dues-paying on the Dublin live circuit, One Day International decided to focus its development in a studio atmosphere, working on their debut full-length almost immediately after formation. Word got out of the studio eventually, and the group undertook its first national tour with Broken Social Scene a short time later. The band had already gotten some early press, as vocalist and songwriter Matt Lunson had a track recorded by the Divine Comedy's Neil Hannon for an Oxfam charity record. To preview what could be expected from the band's next tour -- planned as they wrapped up recordings for the album -- One Day International released a self-titled EP in 2007 -- not to mention playing CMJ in New York. 2008 would find the International out on tour in support of the aforementioned album, called Blackbird, which was set for release in late 2008.
