Mephisto Odyssey
The acid trance project Mephisto Odyssey was formed in late 1993 by Bay Area DJ Mikael Johnston, Barrie Eves, and Orpheos Dejournette. The trio began recording dancefloor favorites such as "Dream of the Black Dahlia," "The Motive," "Get Down," and "Catching the Skinny," and released their debut album (named after their latest single) on the City of Angels label. After being hired to remix Jane's Addiction's "So What!," they were signed to Warner Bros. Records. Josh Camacho, a DJ, then joined the group. An EP, The Lift, was released in the spring of 2000, followed in August by Mephisto Odyssey's major-label debut, The Deep Red Connection.
