MCVERTT

MCVertt is one of Jersey club rap's most high-profile producers, making tracks with breakneck tempos, rapid-fire samples, and breathless, light-speed rapping. Initially producing instrumental tracks for usage in dance battles, he broke through when "Heartbroken," a 2021 track he recorded with rapper Bandmanrill, went viral, launching the Jersey club drill hybrid style. MCVertt continued working with Bandmanrill as well as online personality IShowSpeed and others, then made his mainstream breakthrough when he produced Lil Uzi Vert's 2022 Top Ten hit "Just Wanna Rock." Keeping up a prolific pace, he's continued issuing singles in addition to working with Sha Ek, A$AP Ferg, Sexyy Red, and others on the 2023 mixtape Defiant Presents: Jiggy in Jersey. Newark native Mohammed Camara was exposed to Jersey club music as a youth, and started making beats using FL Studio when he was 15. He began writing tracks for dance battles and gained a following after he started posting them online. His tracks quickly became faster, sharper, and more intense, while incorporating offbeat samples such as birds and frogs. In 2021, Bandmanrill released a vocal version of MCVertt's previously posted instrumental "Heartbroken," initially teased as a joke attempt to fuse Jersey club music with drill-style rapping. The track became a viral hit and caused much online discussion over whether the style should be called Jersey drill or Jersey club drill. MCVertt continued releasing his own material, including the EP 18 (his age at the time), while YouTuber IShowSpeed used the producer's "Hit the Road Jack" as the basis for his viral hit "Shake." Several songs with Bandmanrill, including "Theme Song" (featuring Pap Chanel), appeared in 2022. MCVertt co-produced Lil Uzi Vert's "Just Wanna Rock," which reached number ten on the Billboard 200, bringing Jersey club rap to the mainstream. MCVertt and Bandmanrill released the 2023 EP President Obandman, and MCVertt made several contributions to Sha Ek and Bandmanrill's mixtape Defiant Presents: Jiggy in Jersey, including the single "Face Down" with A$AP Ferg and Sexyy Red.
