Maurizio Baglini
Internationally known as a concerto soloist and recitalist, Italian pianist Maurizio Baglini emerged after the millennium as a winner of piano competitions and a guest artist at many music festivals. Born in Pisa in 1975, Baglini studied piano with Giampiero Semeraro at the Conservatory La Spezia, and with Piero Rattalino and Lazar Berman at the International Piano Academy "Incontri col Maestro" in Imola. Baglini was a prize winner in international piano competitions, such as the Concorso Busoni in Bolzano, the Fryderyk Chopin Competition in Warsaw, the 1998 William Kapell Competition in College Park, Maryland, and the 1999 Music Master Competition in Montecarlo. Baglini is often featured at festivals, and he has appeared at the Yokohama Piano Festival, the Israel Festival in Jerusalem, Festival Berlioz in La Côte-Saint-André, the International Piano Festival of La Roque-d'Anthéron, the Australian Chamber Music Festival, the Festival Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli in Bergamo and Brescia, and many others. With his associate Stefan Giesen, Baglini is the co-founder and artistic director of the Amiata Piano Festival, and he has given masterclasses in Fondi and Cremona. Baglini has recorded for Tudor Records and Decca, releasing albums of works by Scarlatti, Liszt, Schumann, Mussorgsky, Rachmaninov, and Busoni, as well as contemporary music by Rolf Urs Ringger and Azio Corghi.
