Singer-songwriter Andy Kim was born in Montreal, Canada to Lebanese parents. From an early age Kim showed signs of musical talent, and at 16 he packed up his belongings and moved to New York with the hope of developing his talent into a career. Kim's big break came in 1968 when he released the single How'd We Ever Get This Way with the help of producer Jeff Barry who noticed his potential and signed him to Steed Records. In 1969 Kim recorded another hit - So Good Together - and entered the top ten with Baby I Love You, a track previously recorded by The Ronettes. 1974 saw him top the Billboard Charts with Rock Me Gently, cementing his place in the industry; the single also achieved a number two spot on the UK Singles Chart. Wanting to branch out into different genres, Kim released two albums in 1980 and 1984 under the pseudonym Baron Longfellow which earned him moderate success. In 1995 Kim's notability took a turn for the better when he met Barenaked Ladies' frontman Ed Robertson who explained to Kim that he was a big fan of his music. Almost a decade later, with Kim happily settling in to retirement, Robertson approached him with a co-writing gig and the two produced I Forgot To Mention. Canadian Music Week awarded Kim with the Indie Award for Favourite Solo Artist in 2005, a boost which enabled him to co-write Whatever Happened To Christmas with Ron Sexsmith. 2009 saw Kim's induction into the Hit Parade Hall Of Fame, and in 2010 he released his first album in more than 20 years, Happen Again.
