Johnson Products

Johnson Products was a funk/disco outfit responsible for the 1979 single "Johnson Jumpin'," which was released on the Sound of New York label (or SONY), one of the several small-time underground disco imprints run by producers Peter Brown and Patrick Adams during the late ‘70s and early ‘80s. A gritty instrumental featuring funky guitar flicks, all sorts of hand percussion, and some just-barely-tethered synth lines (presumably played by the innovative Adams), Brown and Adams obviously held "Johnson Jumpin'" in high regard, as re-interpretations of the song formed the backbone of a number of rap tracks recorded later for their labels, including "Willie Rap" by Willie Wood & Crew and "Super-jay Love Theme" by Super-jay.
