Henri Madoré

Born on April 11, 1928 in Saint-Denis de La Réunion, Henri Madouré, nicknamed "Ti-Doré", began his musical career as a street singer in 1948. He went on to offer his services at weddings, parties, balls and cafés. Thanks to his ability to improvise and his penchant for provocation, the sega singer gradually built up a reputation throughout the island, and in 1958 was awarded his first record, a 78-turn, featuring the songs " Marmaille la Bit'" and "La Mandoze ". For the occasion, he stylized his name, becoming Henri Madoré. The same year, he also released "A.B.C.D." with "Pas besoin croire moin l'est mort" on the B side, as well as "Pêcheurs St-Leu" flanked by "Z'enfant Bâtard" . These tracks were included in the compilation Le Dernier Chanteur de Rue released in 1997, nine years after his death. He died on December 31, 1988 in Saint-Denis, on his home island, at the age of 60.
