Cehryl
The orchestrated designs of cehryl's quietly sultry, R&B-infused adult-alternative songs sometimes reveal her formal classical training. The songwriter/producer's full-length debut, Slow Motion, saw release in 2020.
Born in Hong Kong, cehryl (an anagram of Cheryl) grew up listening to a mix of pop and R&B artists, including Alicia Keys, Jay Chou, Elliott Smith, and others. Following a period of living in England, she moved to Boston, where she studied music at the Berklee College of Music. In 2016, she began posting tracks online and released her debut EP, Delusions.
A year later, she returned with another EP, Wherever It May Be, and gained further attention opening for artists like Ravyn Lenae, Raveena, and Dijon. She eventually relocated back to Hong Kong, and in June 2020, cehryl released her first album, Slow Motion, on the Nettwerk label.
