Recorded at the Loft, his studio in Chicago, Together At Last gathers the acoustic versions of eleven old titles written by Jeff Tweedy. You’ll obviously find songs from his band Wilco, but also from his side projects like Golden Smog and Loose Fur. This disc actually kicks off the Loft Acoustic Sessions series in which the mastermind behind Wilco will revisit pieces taken from his entire discography, which spans three decades and more than twenty albums. In their most stripped-down version, these tracks recorded on Together At Last highlight even more their author’s skills. The effect is impressive on Via Chicago, the first song on the album (taken from Summerteeth), which finds here a rather original intensity. Even on a title like Muzzle Of Bees (taken from A Ghost Is Born), whose first version was already somewhat stripped-down, Tweedy plays the introspection card even more. To no one’s surprise, it’s a rare fragility and sensibility that come out of every pore of a disc which will fill the fans with joy but can also serve as a beautiful introduction to newcomers… © MZ/Qobuz
