A regular composer for director Céline Sciamma (notably on the films Tomboy and Bande de filles), Para One is now taking a turn behind the camera for his first film SPECTRE: Sanity, Madness & the Family. It tells the story of Jean, his alter ego, who grew up in a cult, and who receives a tape of recordings from the guru of the community, before heading off in search of his childhood in Japan, Indonesia and Bulgaria. This is an eminently personal film, which acts as a kind of making-of for his album SPECTRE: Machines of Loving Grace, released in May 2021. It's a record for which the Parisian producer went exploring, literally visiting all the four corners of the world to capture sounds. But above all it was a spiritual journey, with cosmic tracks like the intro Vertigo or Shin Sekai with the Mystère des Voix Bulgares. This was clearly a therapeutic project for the artist, but it has a healing effect on the listener, too. © Smaël Bouaici/Qobuz
