After his two-volume A LOVE LETTER TO YOU in 2017, Trippie Redd was patiently biting his time to become one of the real stars of his generation along with Lil Uzi Vert, 6ix9ine and XXXTentacion. Like them, Trippie Redd oscillates between Atlanta trap and 90s indie rock. But when most of his peers express their rock spirit solely through self-destructive behaviour and Kurt Cobain t-shirts, Trippie Redd offers a more precise range on his iconoclastic LIFE IS A TRIP. On more than half the album, he refines his formula into an emotional rock carried by drums chopped up by a TR-808 beat box, his angelic and pristine voice exterminating the end of his rimes into a grunge bawling. With well-composed songs and heady melodies, Trippie Redd condenses all of his energy into 14 tracks culminating into Forever Ever, his collaboration with Young Thug and Reese LAFLARE, a subtle and fascinating doo-wop ballad. Mixing things up, he completely transforms on a few rap outings like Missing My Idols and Oomps Revenge, to belie his critics and J. Cole fans. After his two-volume A LOVE LETTER TO YOU in 2017, Trippie Redd was patiently biting his time to become one of the real stars of his generation along with Lil Uzi Vert, 6ix9ine and XXXTentacion. Like them, Trippie Redd oscillates between Atlanta trap and 90s indie rock.
