Yvette Horner

The artist Yvette Horner had two very distinct lives: one in the fifties and seventies, when she embodied the popular musette tradition, the other from 1991 onwards, when Jean-Paul Gaultier gave her a makeover and she entered the world of hipness. The woman with the golden fingers didn't just change her appearance, she also changed her musical universe, offering a wide range of musical styles on her accordion. From rap to metal, nothing frightens Yvette Horner, who also collaborates with the likes of Marcel Azzola and Richard Galliano. In 2011, Yvette Horner features prominently on Julien Doré's album Bichon, while preparing the album Hors Normes. While her discography of over one hundred and fifty releases is sometimes hard to keep track of, compilations such as Princesse Accordéon (2010) and Accordéon d'Or (2011) allow us to rediscover her inimitable spirit and touch. Aged 95, the queen of the accordion passed away on June 11, 2018.
