Waye
Originally from Brazzaville in Congo, Rolf Derly Nganga spent his childhood between Burkina Faso and Congo. He was destined for a career in aviation before his passion for music caught up with him and he devoted himself fully to it in 2015. With the group Bones Clique, which he formed with Snom, Slmsi, GRC and B-Tween, Waye got to grips with unveiling his music and performing live. A first mixtape released in 2014, The Bone Theory, launched the group, while Young Ace Waye presented a first solo EP the same year, Dear Uncle Sam. Once professionally integrated into the music world, everything accelerated for the Congolese, who released his project Ombres & Lumières : Le Prélude in 2016, deploying his vision of rap tinged with electronic influences. This release inserts him a little further into the local music scene and rewards him with the title of Male Revelation of the Year at the 2016 Beat Street Awards. The same ceremony awarded him the prize for Best Mixtape in 2017 for his Kontrol project. Alpha Charlie Echo, a new EP, was released in 2019 and won over national audiences. Having become a benchmark for rap in the Congo, Young Ace Waye is gaining in maturity and demonstrates this with his album En Attendant Ambition, the most ambitious with sixteen tracks unveiled at the end of 2022.
