Soulstice
Gabriel Rene and Mei-Lwun Yee started experimenting with hip-hop back in 1989. They were soon joined by Gabriel's sister Gina Rene. With the addition of keyboardist Andy Caldwell, the band moved from a simple dance music perspective to experimental electronic music, delivering captivating vocals, deep house, and jungle/drum'n'bass with contemporary rhythm & blues, jazz, and funk influences. Named after the solstice, when the sun reaches the highest point in the sky, the group turned into Soulstice to symbolize the soul's highest point in the sky.
In April 2001, OM Records released Soulstice's debut album, a 11-track trip-hop record called Illusion.
