Maina Doe

Maina Doe is a Sydney-based singer and songwriter from Indonesia with an inviting progressive R&B sound. She made her commercial debut in 2019 with the self-issued "Delusion" and has since become part of the Valve Sounds roster, releasing 2022-2023 singles such as "Primal Design" and "Let Her Be." Originally from Indonesia -- she was born and raised in Bandung -- Maina Doe started singing as a youngster and first recorded in the late 2010s under birth name, Nasra. As she continued to mix in the music community of her adoptive home base of Sydney, her foundation in traditional soul developed into a hybrid sound still rooted in R&B but incorporating contemporary strands of pop, hip-hop, and dance music. Taking the name Maina Doe, she independently released "Delusion" and "Unwritten Laws" in 2019 and 2020. The latter single featured a guest verse from Genesis Owusu, and preceded Maina Doe's own co-billings on tracks headlined by Jay Cooper ("See Me") and BLESSED ("Trouble"). Signed to Valve Sounds in Australia, Maina made her label debut in 2022 with "Primal Design," issued months after she performed for a sold-out crowd at the Sydney Opera House. Early the next year, she teamed with King Ivy and IJALE for "WYA," and a few months later, while preparing the release of her first EP, she offered "Let Her Be," an uptempo single produced by 18YOMAN, LEN20, and UNO Stereo, a team whose collective credits include material by Sampa the Great, Kid Cudi, and Wale.
