LGT Young Soloists

The first youth orchestra ever to record for the venerable RCA Red Seal label, the LGT Young Soloists have gained international acclaim. The group's recordings are diverse, covering both traditional and contemporary repertory. The LGT Young Soloists were founded in Zurich, Switzerland, in 2013, by violinist Alexander Gilman and pianist Marina Seltenreich; Gilman serves as conductor. The group is a rare example of a contemporary ensemble that performs under a corporate aegis, taking its name from that of LGT Private Banking, owned by the Princely Family of Liechtenstein. Gilman's intent was to give promising young musicians a chance to perform on the concert stage, but he exceeded that goal; the LGT Young Soloists have earned reviews comparing them favorably to adult ensembles. The players currently hail from 15 different countries and are between 14 and 23 years old. The group quickly attracted attention from recording companies and signed with the RCA Red Seal label, releasing the album Italian Journey in 2015. The Soloists followed that up with Russian Soul: Works for String Orchestra two years later. The LGT Young Soloists have performed in some of the world's top halls, including the Philharmonie in Berlin, the Musikverein in Vienna, and Victoria Hall in Singapore. Beyond continental Europe, the group has appeared in New York, several Chinese cities, Tel Aviv, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai. Guest soloists have included Alma Deutscher, Juliane Banse, and Esther Yoo. The Soloists have been guests at such summer events as the Rheingau Music Festival, Woordfees Festival in South Africa, and Dresden Music Festival. The LGT Young Soloists released three more albums on RCA, moving to Naxos in 2020 for the album Beethoven Recomposed (which topped Apple Music Video charts in more than 40 countries) and to Orange Mountain Music in 2022 for a recording of Philip Glass' Symphony No. 14, a work written expressly for the group.
