Jennifer Ryan
Born in British Columbia, this Canadian jazz vocalist has received wide acclaim for her passionate delivery as well as improvisational capabilities. Having studied both jazz vocal and opera vocal under renowned jazz vocalists such as Sheila Jordan and Ranee Lee, she has also added "minsogak," or traditional Korean folk music, to her portfolio. In 1996, Ryan released her debut album, How Do You Feel About That, on Go Play Records. In 2001, she returned with a traditional and interesting solo effort, Found. She has also performed with Jordan O'Connor, Mary Margaret O'Hara, and Don Clark. Performing in Japan, North America, and Europe, Ryan has never forgotten her roots, creating a musical workshop for secondary and college students in her hometown. She has appeared at various musical showcases, including the Ottawa International Jazz Festival.
