Federico Ughi
Drummer Federico Ughi was born in Rome, Italy, in 1972. At the age of nine, he began learning such instruments as the recorder and guitar -- eventually moving to the drums by age 12. Perfecting his drum skills and working as a band leader throughout his teens/early twenties, Ughi then relocated to England in 1994, performing at several jazz festivals and joining the acoustic quartet After Breakfast (and began studying with renowned pianist Paul Bley). By 2000, Ughi had moved to New York, where he formed a duo with saxophonist Daniel Carter. Ughi has performed over the years with such musically varied artists as DJ Food, Steve Dalachinsky, and Phil Durrant.
