Boyd

Possibly related to Memphis Slim and Muddy Waters, Eddie Boyd played the piano in Mississippi juke joints from an early age, leaving them after a racial incident in the '30s. He performed in Memphis, then moved to Chicago, where he scored a huge hit with one of his own compositions, Five Long Years. He signed with the Chess label, for whom he recorded a dark, introverted work, with titles such as "24 Hours" and "Third Degree". Very popular in the Chicago ghettos, Boyd decided to leave the United States and the prevailing racism to settle in England and then Finland, where he recorded until his death.
