Any project featuring the combined talents of Air's Jean-Benoît Dunckel and producer Bardi Jóhannsson was bound to be light, dreamy, and softer than puffed air, and Starwalker fits that bill tighter than skinny jeans. Sounding like Air with jangling guitars, the band's debut EP features backing vocals from Keren-Ann on the enchanting "Losers Can Win," a wonderfully moody ballad ("Bad Weather"), a stately instrumental ("Moral Sex") that sounds like what Daft Punk would play in their chillout room, and a couple of remixes. Dunckel and Jóhannsson are perfect partners and seem totally simpatico; their amazingly breathless vocals sound like the Everly Brothers floating through space with tanks full of helium instead of oxygen. It's a nice little intro to the project and is hopefully the first record of many to come.
