Jeronimo

Born on September 30, 1972 in Liège, Belgium, Jérôme Mardaga gradually became part of the Liège music scene in the 1980s. He worked as a guitarist with the group Sealane, then began composing his own material with a group called Jeronimo. His career took off in the 2000s, with the release of his first album, Un monde sans moi, in 2002. This first collection of songs was a success, particularly the title track "Ton éternel petit groupe" (Your eternal little band) , where guitars and synthesizers are in keeping with the tradition of French-language rock, while at the same time modernizing it. Supported by the independent label Anorak Supersport, this debut saw the band, led by Jérôme Mardaga, embark on an "eternal little tour", playing at the Dour Festival, Printemps de Bourges and abroad (Switzerland, Spain, Canada). A second live album, Live , was released the same year, followed by 12h33, Jeronimo's second studio album, released in 2005. Awarded the Prix Rapsat-Lelièvre in Montreal and the "Chanson française" prize by the Octaves de la musique in 2005, the band is making a name for itself in French-speaking rock circles. After Mélodies Démolies (2008), recorded in Italy, Jeronimo defended his album on stage, then Jérôme Mardaga appeared alongside other Belgian artists, notably The Engines of Love. In early 2010, he put a stop to the Jeronimo project and left Anorak Supersport. Despite the group's final album, Zinzin , unveiled in 2013, Jeronimo remained alive for a few concert performances, giving way to Jérôme Mardarga's more solitary project under his own name, Raid aérien (2018), on which the music is more electronic.
