Tryo
Tryo is a French reggae band whose balance of politically-charged lyrics, comedic performances, and acoustic ska music has earned the group a number of chart-topping releases in France and Belgium. The band was formed in Fresnes in 1995 by Manu Eveno (known as Manu) and Cyril Celestin (known as Guizmo). Christophe Mali completed the group's initial lineup, and all three members sharing guitar and vocal duties. Daniel 'Danielito' Bravo later joined as Tryo's percussionist, and the band made its full-length debut with Mamagubida in 1998. The album reached Number 7 on the French Album Charts and marked the start of a five-album run of Top 10 hits that included Faut Qu'ils S'activent (2000), Grain De Sable (2003), Ce Que l'On Sème (2012) and Ladilafé (2012), with the former two releases both making it to Number 1. 2014's Né quelque part didn't fare as well, peaking at number 43, but 2016's Vent debout returned the group to the Top 20. XXV ans followed in 2020 and peaked at Number 4, with Tryo's ninth release, Chants de Bataille, appearing in 2021.
