The Guild League
Led by singer Tali White of the Lucksmiths, the Guild League were an indie pop supergroup by all accounts. Other Guild League members included Alicia Vanden Heuvel of #Poundsign# and the Aislers Set, Craig Pilkington of the Killjoys, Pete Cohen of Sodastream, and Brent Kenji of the Fairways, as well as members of Red Raku, Art of Fighting, and the Blackeyed Susans. The band's releases included the Jet Set...Go! EP from summer 2002 and the 13-song Private Transport full-length CD from late 2002. The album was recorded in Melbourne, Australia, and San Francisco. Appearances on the Matinee 50! and Romantic and Square Is Hip and Aware Smiths tribute CDs followed in 2003 and 2004, both on Matinee. White condensed the collective to a much smaller army for the next record, resulting in a collection of warm chamber pop infused with "Aussie" charm. Inner North was released in September, 2004.
