Sunshiners
Pan-cultural reggae collective the Sunshiners reunited saxophonist Philippe "Feal" Lerouzic and drummer Gaël "Chewinoo" Chosson, who previously collaborated in the likeminded French group Mister Gang. During a 2001 tour stop on the South Pacific island of Vanuatu, Lerouzic and Chosson befriended local singers Gero Iaviniau, John Kapala, Jake Moses, and Ben Siro. When Mister Gang split soon after, Lerouzic and Chosson returned to Vanuatu, reconnected with their new friends, and formed the Sunshiners, a project dedicated to reggae-inspired interpretations of classic British pop hits spanning from David Bowie to the Human League to U2. The Sunshiners' self-titled debut LP followed on Sony BMG in 2006.
