Slimane

An emotive French-Algerian pop and R&B singer, Slimane rose to fame winning season five of The Voice: La Plus Belle Vox in 2016. He scored a hit with his cover of Vitaa's "À Fleur de Toi" and topped the French, Belgian, and Swiss charts with his debut album, 2016's A Bout de Reves. He has remained a chart favorite in France, hitting the Top Five with 2018's Solune, 2019's VersuS (with Vitaa), and 2022's Chroniques d'un Cupidon. In 2023, he released the single "Mon Amour" as an early bid to represent France in Eurovision 2024. Born Slimane Nebchi in Chelles, Seine-et-Marne, France in 1989, the French singer/songwriter grew up in the eastern province of Paris before moving to Les Lilas. Originally writing his own songs and uploading them to the internet, Slimane had his first brush with fame when he entered the seventh season of singing competition Nouvelle Star in 2009. He didn't make the cut, but returned for another stab in 2011, entering The X-Factor and eventually going on to appear in the off-shoot Encore Une Chance the following year. 2011 also saw him release his first EP, Tourne le Monde. In 2016, Slimane returned to the TV screen with an audition on The Voice: La Plus Belle Vox. After gaining experience from his previous TV appearances, Slimane's version of Vitaa's "À Fleur de Toi" saw all four judges turn their chairs. Going on to win the series, Slimane signed a deal with Universal. A flurry of singles, including his version of Vitaa's hit single, appeared before Universal issued his debut album, A Bout de Reves, just a few months after his win; it topped the French, Belgian, and Swiss charts. He returned in 2018 with his sophomore full-length, Solune, which hit number in France and spawned the singles "J'en suis là," "Viens on s'aime," and "Luna," the latter of which featured Boostee. In 2019, he brought his connection to Vitaa full-circle, collaborating on all of VersuS. Anchored by the title track, as well as singles like "Ça va ça vient" and "Avant toi," the album once again topped the French, Swiss, and Belgian charts. It paved the way for the companion release VersuS II. In 2022, he scored a Top 40 hit in France appearing alongside Dadju on Gims' song "Belle." He again reached number one in France, Belgium, and Switzerland with his fourth studio album, 2022's Chroniques d'un Cupidon, which featured two more Top 40 French hits with "La Recette" and "Des milliers de je t'aime." A non-album single, "Mon Amour," appeared in 2023, peaking at number 26 in France and earning entry for France in Eurovision Song Contest 2024.
