Sinead Burgess

An Australian singer, songwriter, and guitarist based in Nashville, Tennessee, Sinead Burgess began making music as a young teen and had brushes with rock, pop, and major labels before settling into a more intimate, primarily acoustic sound. Combining elements of country, pop balladry, and folk-styled singer/songwriter fare, her self-released debut album, Damaged Goods, arrived in 2018. Born in Queensland in 1990, Burgess began attempting to write songs as a young child, and started playing guitar seriously and performing live in her early teens. She signed with ABC Music at 16 and set off to Nashville to make a country album. Not happy with those early recordings, she switched gears and joined the roster at Island Records Australia with the intent to move away from country. She collaborated with songwriter/producer Stuart Crichton (Pet Shop Boys, Kesha) on the rock-styled single "Goodnight America," released in 2012. The poppier "Rearview Mirror" arrived a year later, before she issued an EP of more restrained contemporary pop called Wolf via ABC Pop in 2016. It was recorded in New York. Saying that she wanted to capture the spirit and sound of her live acoustic shows, she took the reins on her debut LP, acting as producer as well as songwriter and performer. She toured in support of the Shires before self-releasing the intimate Damaged Goods in August 2018.
