Sherwin Gardner
Sherwin Gardner is a Trinidadian reggae-gospel singer, songwriter, and producer with a distinctive dancehall style that has earned him acclaim in both his native Caribbean and beyond. He started his career while still in his teens and eventually landed a chart-topping hit with his 2003 single "He Died for Me." Over the next two decades, Gardner established himself both as a worship leader and an innovative recording artist on albums like Nascent (2012), Fixer (2015), and the Billboard-charting live set Greater (2017). He continued to enhance his globally driven sound on the 2021 album Pointed Up.
Gardner made his debut at a young age, performing around the Caribbean as a teenager and recording his debut album, 1998's Power in the Name, at just 17. A native of Arima, Trinidad, he issued three more regional albums before finding chart success and breaking into the international mainstream with 2002's Leaning. Launching his own Flow Masters record label the following year, he followed up with 2003's Closer and landed a number one Caribbean radio hit with "He Died for Me," earning numerous critical accolades in Trinidad and beyond.
Over the coming decade, Gardner balanced his career as a recording artist and worship leader with production work on albums by artists like Jonathan Nelson, Carlene Davis, Chevelle Franklyn, Pierre Sisters, and Monty G. As a performer, he has shared the stage with high-profile gospel artists like BeBe and CeCe Winans, Lecrae, Israel Houghton, Fred Hammond, and Yolanda Adams. Moving into the 2010s, Gardner continued to record prolifically, pushing traditional gospel boundaries on releases like Nascent (2012), Veinticinco (2014), and Fixer (2015) which mix high-energy electronic pop, reggae, dancehall, and R&B. He returned in 2017 with the live album Greater, hitting number four on Billboard's Gospel chart thanks in part to the single "Because of You."
Gardner returned in 2021 with Pointed Up, a blend of live and studio tracks featuring musicians from around the world to emphasize his genre-crossing appeal. Singles like the breezy 2023 cut "Over Me" and 2024's passionate "Find Me Here (Blessings Find Me)" followed over the next few years.
